Healing & wellbeing

Healing looks different for everyone. It is not a straight line, and there is no deadline. What matters is finding what feels safe and right for you.

For many of our mob, healing is connected to culture, Country, family and community — not just to services. All of these can be part of your healing.

If things feel too much right now

Grounding exercise

This is a simple grounding exercise you can do anywhere:

Look around and name 5 things you can see.

Take 3 slow breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth.

If it feels safe, place your feet on the ground and notice it holding you up.

If you need to yarn with someone, call 13YARN — 13 92 76, any time.

Ways healing can look

5 ideas

Spending time on Country, or with family and community you trust.

Yarning with an Elder, a counsellor, or someone who gets it.

Art, music, dance, storytelling, or being out on the land.

Rest, gentle movement, and looking after your body.

Taking things one day at a time — some days are okay, some are hard. Both are part of healing.
