Stories of Strength

About Stories of Strength

Stories of Strength is an Aboriginal-led project supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across NSW affected by family, domestic and sexual violence (DFSV).

Why this project exists

It was created to amplify Aboriginal voices and share culturally safe support, healing and knowledge. Violence is not part of culture. Strength, connection and community keep our families safe. Decision-making is guided by community — not delivered to it.

Community governance & Elders

This project is guided by the cultural authority of Aboriginal Elders and community leaders. Content is reviewed for cultural safety, and the project is overseen by community to make sure it stays respectful, accurate and led by mob.

Who runs it

Delivered by Community News Hub Aboriginal Corporation in partnership with Barayamal, an Indigenous-led not-for-profit. It sits within the NSW Government's commitment to reducing DFSV in Aboriginal communities.

Funding

Funded by the NSW Government through the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) Aboriginal Community Safety Grant 2025.

A note of respect: this site may reference people who have died. We honour Elders past, present and emerging, and all who have shared their strength.
